In the 1960s, Seiko made its mark on the global sports timing stage with a new generation of high-precision equipment. This innovation was widely embraced by international sports federations and used to record elapsed time at prestigious events around the world. At the heart of this success was Seiko's groundbreaking "heart-shaped cam" mechanism, which delivered an unprecedented level of precision for manual sports timing devices. In 1969, Seiko introduced the Seiko Speedtimer, powered by the revolutionary Caliber 6139. It was the world's first automatic chronograph equipped with both a column wheel and vertical clutch, which greatly enhanced the accuracy of wristwatch chronographs—features still essential in high-performance timepieces today.

In celebration of this legacy, Seiko has launched a new series of six watches in its Prospex collection, all inspired by the original Speedtimer and Seiko's enduring commitment to sports timing. One model features a limited-edition automatic chronograph movement that pays homage to the design of the 1964 stopwatch, while another version with the same caliber and four solar chronographs complete this impressive collection. These watches carry forward the brand's tradition of precise, reliable, and innovative timekeeping.

Among these new releases is the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Blue Dial Chronograph. This timepiece is powered by the V192 solar movement, offering an impressive accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month. It features a chronograph that measures up to 60 minutes in 1/5 second increments, along with a date display and a small seconds hand. The sleek 39mm stainless steel case is paired with a striking blue dial, protected by a sapphire crystal, and offers water resistance up to 100 meters. The watch also comes with an overcharge prevention function, ensuring long-lasting durability and functionality.
